The oh so Great Gatsby.

Last night I was thrown back to the roaring twenties in Baz Luhrmann’s 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby.  The film is a dazzling take on a classic, the script, the detail, the costumes are absolutely spectacular.  And if you thought it couldn’t get any better, power couple Mr and Mrs Carter have hijacked the soundtrack. Carey Mulligan stunned as Daisy Buchananin in delicate lace and embellished outfits. Here are just a few of my favourite looks vs Etros art deco inspired vintage collection.
So what are your waiting for, get your Gatsby on.

Khoo, What, Where?

She first graced our screens last year in The Little Paris Kitchen. Rachel Khoo is an adorable candy lipped British girl who sold out to the wonders and glories of Paris. There in her tiny apartment with her child sized oven and infamous white mixing bowl (which she never travels without) she opened the smallest restaurant with the longest reservation list. I am lucky enough to be visiting Paris this summer, along with my sister. The eurostar is booked and we are fixated on a traditional Parisian apartment, complete with wrought iron balcony on a charming rue! I have therefore been hooked on Miss Khoos blog, an inspiring and delectable guide to all things edible in the French capital. She checklists the best places to get your baguettes and fromage to the pastry shop of dreams. Her insight is quite literally melt in the mouth idealicious, I’m begging to think I may have to book an extra seat on the way home.

It's a Diet Coke Thing.

As a full fat coke gal I was always a little green eyed of the sparkly diet coke cans and bottles adorned in various designs and patterns. I decided to take on the motto, if you can’t beat em’ join em’ and have collected these beauts for a few years now, starting with the Patricia Field SATC editions. So imagine my delight when I found out that my favourite designer Marc Jacobs took on the role as creative director of the brand. MJ I expect great things.

My First Mulberry.

I am an owner of a Mulberry. Finally. I have waited so long for this moment and at last, courtesy of the January sales, I bagged myself a Carter Camera in midnight blue. It’s a classic style, with gold hardwear and a double lock plaque, it’s simply divine. #MyheartbelongstoMulberry

The Ear and Now

Earlier this month animation giant Disney and the US department store Barneys collaborated on the launch of a cartoon short film for the festive season, Electric Holidays. In homage to everyones favourite cartoon mouse SJP donned a pair of ears as she, and Minnie herself introduced the film. Who knew ears could be so on trend.

Who Run The World?

Beyonce posted a photo of herself wearing Mary Katrantzou, renowned for her vivid graphics, I couldn’t think of a better muse for such a bold label, just imagine the possible collaboration, girl power doesn’t come close.

Sheer Delight

From the luscious green backdrop of the CFDAs, to the red carpeted Twilight premieres ‘sheer’ is making a bold presence this season. Sheer fabrics and silk have the ability to soften an outfit when teamed with girly pastels and a flirty form, but can easily do a 180, illustrated by K Stew below who has vamped up the trend, making a strong and sexy statement. I am a huge advocate of the demure sheer look, more sophisticated than baring all, showing off just enough flesh to not be put in the same camp as Ms K Price. It’s all over the high street and perfect for the party season ahead... Let’s all cheer for sheer.

Oh Hello Camo

Today marks the start of Autumn, well for me anyway. Today I bought my first AW12 wardrobe staple... a camo jacket. That’s right kids, camo is back, and it’s everywhere. It was all over the catwalks and it’s hitting down on the high street in all shapes and forms, from womenswear to menswear, jackets to wallets, you name it, it’s been camo-ed! I invested in the Topshop jacket, it’s an easy wear, ideal for autumn but also makes a great transitional piece, perfect to throw on over a summer dress on a August evening, with denim shorts and a tee at a festival, or with a chunky knit and boots as we verge in to the A/W season. There are so many ways to wear it, and the best thing is that it instantly brings every outfit up to date. Trends like this come and go, but rumour has it camo is planning on sticking around, it still has a huge presence in SS13 collections... my tip is to blend in with your surroundings this season and go camo.

So the British Summer is coming to a close it seems, question is, was it ever here at all? But fear not, Zara, the high street genius that they are have kicked off their aw12 season with a dazzling new accessories range that could brighten up any day or old grey tee! It’s the perfect payday pick me up, with prices ranging from £15.99- £30 there’s more fluro and pearls than you could shake a stick at! Team them with plains or patterns, wear them casual or dressy, these are investment pieces that certainly won’t break the bank.
