"Shopping is my cardio"- Carrie Bradshaw

So I was doing a spot of sale shopping the other day and taking the time to look at some of the new shops opened in the city centre. It was as I was leaving down the back stairs of a new home accessories store in Liverpool that I came across this, a giant size quote from my favourite tv show Sex & the City, which made me chuckle, I'm a sucker for things like that... so I thought I'd share it with you too...

It has for a while now, been an ambition of mine to be photographed for The Sartorialist blog. The closest I've ever got was being papped for the Topshop blog. This made my week, maybe even my year, but I know its not quite, infact, not at all on the same level. For those of you who have been living under a rather large stone for the past half decade, The Sartorialist is an ongoing fashion blog featuring photographs of super stylish peeps, bang on season timmy trendies with an eye and flair for fashion. In 2005 Scott Schuman, once a director in mens fashion, took to the street of New York with his camera, photographing regular people that caught his eye. In work recently I came across the book with the aforementioned title, it featured a collection of the best shots so far. It could keep me quiet and entertained for hours, I couldn't tear my eyes away from the individuals, each different from the next, adorned in there own ecliptic tastes and styles. It's definitely worth a peek. So I was indulging in my weekly scroll today and thought I'd share with you a few of my cosy winter favourites, enjoy...

A stitch in time...

"Oooh I love your scarf, where did you get it?"
"Actually my clock knitted it for me!"
"Oh. Right."

This may be a conversation you could be having soon if German designer Siren Elise Wilhelmsen gets his way. He has created a crazy clock that knits and after 365 days you will be left with a 2m long scarf! "Knitting needs perfection and precision and clock is one of the best precision instruments in the world." In place of the clock face is this complex mechanism made up of 48 needles and to represent the time passing is the length of yarn. Its a fantastic concept, and while somedays you may feel that you've wasted time, you can rest assured that your clock is multi tasking at home, preparing to keep you warm in the winter months.... Must dash, I'm setting mine in time for next Christmas!

D'ESPRESSO

Imagine this, take a library, books an all and tip 90 degrees it on its side, add a coffee machine and through in a few chairs and tables and what have you got??? A trendy mid town ncy hangout for chic coffee addicts. Wallpaper made to look like book shelves line the side walls and floor, pendant lights defy gravity pointing horizontally out of the wall behind the counter and wooden flooring on the back wall, its pure genius. The owner of this crazy new eatery wants to open more similar stores and says the next one will be completely upside down. Not only do they sell a range of delicious coffees, pastries and sandwiches, they also have a line of desserts are served after 5 p.m, perfect for a pick me up treat after work, don't mind if I do!

Good enough to eat.

I recently read that the A/W trend for nails it to paint them a shade darker than your foundation, channeling brown and caramel hues. So being the dedicated follower of fashion that I am, I decided to take a look at the nails inc website to see what new shade they had on offer. As well as finding the skin tone shades that I'd been looking for, I also came across these and drooled at the sight! Cadburys have released a delicious pair of nail varnishes with nails inc, the delightfully named Vanilla and Cocoa Bliss are irresistible to sweet toothed fashionistas everywhere. Warning: they will cause you to bite your nails off!

Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?

Who says halloween is for kids! Thanks to Mac collaborating with Disney, we can pass up on the trick, and treat ourselves to a piece of this wicked new line. The Venomous Villains range focus' on cartoons evilest ladies like Cruella De Vil, Maleficent and The Evil Queen. If the range of colours and packaging wasn't tempting enough, the names are to kill for...Cruela de Vil's “Heartless” lipstick, Evil Queen’s “Bite of an Apple” blusher, Maleficent’s “She who Dares” mineralize eye shadow, and it continues! The vinyl villans covered the glass front of Selfridges over the weekend and certainly made heads turn, the department was packed! My favourite is Maleficients "My Dark Magic" eye shadow, a daring mix of deep plum with pink pearl, I think I may just have to bring out my dark side this Autumn!

Crystal Coca Cola

I have a huge obsession with Coke bottles. I just love them. So you can imagine how excited I was when the limited edition designs started popping up, the Patricia Field are my favourite so far and take pride of place on a shelf in my bedroom. When I heard about Diet Coke's collaboration with top British jewellery designer Johnny Rocket and saw the bright pink and sparkles my eyes lit up! These sparkling beauties are available from Selfridges store at a bargain price of £1.50 each. I'll be getting a set for sure.

500 million friends and counting...

The Social Network is the movie that defines the decade. It tells the story of the founders of the social-media phenomenon, Facebook. It starts in 2003, in a geeky dorm room in Harvard University and spirals out of control taking over the the campuses of Ivy Leagues and collages, making a few enemies on the way, and what can I say, the rest is history! Mark Zuckerberg played by Jesse Eisenberg, the brains behind TheFacebook.com is wonderfully cast, his sharp wit is exactly what you expect from such an intelligent guy, there are some great one liners! The script is cleverly written, and even though I'm not down on my algorithms or up on my de-coding, I was in awe of the technical references, I found it incredibly baffling and couldn't take my eyes off it! Justin Timberlake takes on the role of Sean Parker, the Napster giant, a paranoid and complex individual, with equally impressive talent as Zuckerberg. I thought he did a great job at tackling the character, he really portrayed him well, even down to the long engaging stares as he tells his slightly exaggerated success stories at a rate of 100mph! What' s even more interesting is that depending which way you look at it, all the leading character could be seen as the villan or the hero, its a really interesting story, with no defining right or wrong. The film opens in cinemas at the end of next week and I couldn't rate it more, I think I could safely say its the best film I've seen all year, impressive to say the least. Although there is bound to be controversy around the topic, and how close to the truth the story is, the real Zuckerberg already quoted as saying that he wished they'd waited until he was dead before making a film about him, I'd take some bits with a pinch of salt and decide for yourself, did he steal Facebook from the Winklevoss twins?

What the FCUK!

I am in love. I have fallen head over heels for the latest collection at French Connection. I've always been a lover of their pieces, but as a poor and lowly student I was only partial to the occasional window shopping experience, as I looked up in awe and promised myself that one day, one day, that would be my wardrobe. I'm also a huge fan of the current advertising campaign, I chuckle every time I see the innuendoes and lust over the beautifully styled outfits, the sequins, the lace, the tailoring, the ruffles... ahh thats it, I'm off to the online store, I just can't get enough!

What's new pussy cat?

How adorable is this please! It's a puurfect collaboration between Paul & Joe and high street massive Urban Outfitters. The kitty cat is actually sculpted in to the lipstick, I have to admit I'm much more of a dog lover but I still find it cute! The packaging doesn't disappoint either, the kitsch chic patterns are taken from the Paul & Joe 2010 A/W collection. A must have in every fashionistas make-up bag!

What a croc...

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the much loved Peanuts cartoon, Lacoste have designed a range of limited edition polos featuring Charlie Brown and the gang alongside the classic croc. I can't wait to take a good snoop at them (sorry, couldn't help myself)!

Kiss Her...

Bianca Hall is the creative brains behind "Kiss Her" a range of cutesy screen prints. The extremely talented graphic designer gives the old school doily a breath of fresh air with the use of quirky phrases and bright colours! I want one in every room!

Don't cry over spilt milk...

Karim Rashid has teamed up with Danish designers "iiamo" to produce the the first self-warming baby bottle. You pour in the formula which in turn activates the heating cartridge and boom, four minutes later you have body-temperature milk ready to feed to your little bambino!

Oh what's that, I think it's the sound of parents everywhere cheering and hailing to Mr Rashid!

Bread with bite...

A simple but genius idea to update the typically mundane and standard bread packaging, possibly the best thing since sliced bread!

Spell it out!

Who thought paper cups could be so much fun! They're cleverly designed so that you don't mix your drinks up at parties like you
would with the typical boring white ones! As well as cups, they can be used to send messages, as tealight holders and even
miniture vases! So don't just say it, spell it!

Flower Power!

Petal Drops is a funnel shaped flower that screws on to your typical plastic bottle. It gracefully catches rain water as it falls so that you can re-pour it over your thirsty plants! What a quirky, fun way to go green!
