Orange Is The New Black

The title of Netflix series of the moment really does ring true, tangerine tones are everywhere. The citrus burst adds a pop of colour to your high summer wardrobe, plenty of the big wigs have got the key pieces out there, I’ve posted some of my faves from Philip (Lim) to Marc (Jacobs)... Olivia has braved the two piece, she looks fab, but if I were you I’d take baby steps, one segment at a time girls x

Funny Girl

The first time I saw Katherine Ryan was on a panel show, I have to admit I wasn’t a huge fan. Since then I went to a Gigs and Shiggles event were she was headlining, the sole reason I went was to see Louisa Omielan, star of What Would Beyonce Do? (now my mantra), who I had seen perform her sassy proclamations and gone a bit ‘fan girl’ for. Louisa was ofcourse hilarious, what else would you expect, so for me my night had peaked. That was until Katherine took the mic. Her opening chat about a growing up in rural Canada and her first experience with the local flasher was funny. The life changing moment she found images of a ‘glamour models’ torso on her boyfriends phone, was hilarious and insightful, advising that you need to nip cheating in the bud, ‘if you find mice poo in your cereal do you have a problem with mice poo or mice? You need to get rid of the mouse, it will do it again. Finally the anecdotes of bringing up her English Rose daughter in Nappy Valley, aka Crouch End were priceless. One hour performance was all it took, I was hooked. After going on and on to my sister about how awesome she was and that she ‘just had to see her’ we went earlier this month to a giant inflatable bowler hat, in the middle of the City to see her, Miss Ryan did not disappoint injecting witty bites of current affairs in to her set, confused as to why we still haven’t located the missing Malaysian Airlines flight, but being able to track every move of Joey Essex. Her views on today are both sharp and quick... So if your up in bonny Edinburgh for the Fringe next month or see a giant bowler hat arena stop by, don’t be fooled by those overly edited panel shows. First impressions are not always right, Katherine Ryan is not one to miss.

Magnum turns 25

Nothing says summer like ice cream, hearing the familiar chime of the van rattling down my street still gets me excited, even as I turn 25. My number one choice would be a Twister, obviously, I mean what's to dislike the lolly to ice cream ratio is not to be messed with. But in later years my grown up pick is a Magnum, caramel if I must specify. And it just so happens that my summer day treat of choice shares its quarter of a century with me. To celebrate Magnum have launched a Marc de Champagne limited edition and Selfridges have opened a concept store where you can design and make your own, choosing toppings and sauces to create 'My Magnum', what a dream. Happy Birthday Magnum, here's to many more x

The only thing getting me through my hot and sticky tube commute at the moment is Mindy Kaling's hilarious autobiography 'Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?' Filled with confessions, observations and the ups and downs on her rise to fame as one of the funniest actresses of our time. Her snappy and sassy one liners that make her self titled TV show 'The Mindy Project' so great have been built on real life individuals she has encountered. Growing up in Boston and going on to graduate from Dartmouth where she describes her time as like being a shark in a public pool, a striking contrast to how she found her big move to the intimidating bright lights of NYC. The real life Mindy is a determined and witty gal, with inspiring attitude and confidence. If you need a chuckle and a bit of motivation then give it a read... like she says, 'it's so hard being your own role model'. Thank God we've got you Mind x

Simply Georgeous!

First we had the Kate effect, all eyes were on the Duchess of Cambridge and what she was going to step out in next. Now it's all about George, not since Harper Beckham has there been such an interest in pint sized outfit.

The Prince turns one in a few days time but has already helped many British businesses boom. Like Kate and the infamous navy Issaa dress she worn in 'that' engagement photo, George is making retailers all over the country rejoice as he is pictures in established and newly founded British brands. From the Rachel Riley sailing boat dungarees to the Corgi cashmere 'George' jumper, this chunky little style icon is causing sales to hit all time highs, resulting in store websites crashing as new parents all around the world attempt to dress their buddle of joy just like our George.
